Batavia History is a collaborative project of the Batavia Public Library and the Batavia Historical Society. The purpose of Batavia History is to provide online public access to digital versions of documents, photographs, and artifacts related to the history of Batavia, Batavia Township, the Batavia Public Library, the Batavia Historical Society, and Kane County, Illinois.
The object of this Society shall be the discovery, preservation, and dissemination of knowledge about the history of Batavia Township, Kane County, Illinois. To collect and preserve books, pamphlets, papers, photographs, relics and other historical objects. To receive by gift, grant, devise or purchase books, museums, moneys, real estate and other property. To encourage the preservation of historical monuments and buildings and to suitably mark them. To publish historical material in the newspapers and in pamphlets and books. To hold meeting with addresses, lectures, papers and general discussions.
The mission of the Batavia Public Library is to provide and ensure access to materials and services to meet the lifelong learning needs of residents and organizations, as well as to create a welcoming place to gather, exchange ideas, and participate in cultural events.
